Galaxy Nexus sign up pageOne of the most exciting smartphones to launch this year, at least for Android fans, is Samsung’s new Galaxy Nexus. The device will be the first handset to ship with the latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and packs an impressive list of specifications that may finally steal the Galaxy S II‘s title as the hottest Android smartphone available.

So how can you get your hands on this beast? Well, it seems the device will be exclusive to Verizon Wireless, according to the carrier’s website, and you can register your interest from today. Verizon has launched a new Galaxy Nexus signup page that allows you to enter your email address and “be one of the first to get the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung on Verizon.”

Although there’s no mention of Verizon exclusivity on this particular page, searching the Verizon website for the device reveals an interesting banner that claims you won’t get the handset anywhere else:

The Galaxy Nexus will be the first of Samsung’s Nexus devices to land on the Verizon network, and there’s no better way to launch the device than with an exclusive deal. If you’re a customer and were hoping to bag the device from another carrier, however, it seems you may be out of luck.

Not only will the Galaxy Nexus be the first device to shop with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but it’ll be one of the most exciting devices available for the holiday season, with a whopping 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4G capabilities. Its only downside is that, unlike its cousin, the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Nexus packs only a 5-megapixel camera as opposed to 8-megapixels. However, this will be a minor sacrifice for most, I’m sure.

How do you feel about the Galaxy Nexus being exclusive to Verizon? Will you still buy it?
