The budget-friendly segment isn’t overlooked by Samsung. Most of the company’s revenue in the mobile industry actually comes from outside its flagship series.
With that said, it’s no surprise to see the Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J3 updated in 2018. The duo has refreshed designs as well as improved specifications, but they’re definitely in the same realm of affordability as their predecessors.
Samsung’s Galaxy J7 will be competing directly against the Moto E series and TCL’s Alcatel products. The Galaxy J7 features a 5.5-inch HD display, 2GB of memory, 16GB of storage, a 13MP rear camera, a 13MP front camera, a 3300mAh battery, and Android 8.0 Oreo.
The Galaxy J3, meanwhile, is a watered-down version of its larger sibling. It ships with a smaller 5-inch display, and the battery is also a lighter 2600mAh. Samsung even reduced the two cameras’ resolutions. While the rear camera is 8MP, the front camera is 5MP. The Galaxy J3 does, however, still have Oreo as well as the same amounts of memory and storage.
Samsung has not specified the processor for either model.
In the United States, both phones will be sold through select retailers and carriers. Samsung hasn’t named them at this time, though. What we do know is that the Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J3 will be available starting this month. So you should expect participating retailers and carriers to announce their availability very soon.
