Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A7 (2018) this week, and apparently dual-camera setups aren’t enough. The mid-range device ships with a triple-camera setup that blends three different types of lenses. It also has some tweaks on the software side that should improve photos and videos across the board. Do you need three cameras? Probably not, but you’ll take them anyway.
The triple-camera setup has a 24MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP depth lens. Together, they’ll let the Galaxy A7 capture more detail and even unlock selective focus. Samsung added Screen Optimizer for automatic adjustments, too.
DJ Koh, who leads Samsung’s mobile division, made this announcement:
“Samsung is committed to delivering meaningful innovation to all consumers across the Galaxy family, no matter who they are or where they are in the world.”
Elsewhere, the Galaxy A7 doesn’t disappoint. It sports a 6-inch Full HD+ (2220×1080) Super AMOLED display, an octa-core chip, up to 6GB of memory, up to 128GB of storage, a 3300mAh battery, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Android 8.0 with Samsung Experience.
In-house software like Bixby, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Health are pre-installed as well.
Samsung says the phone arrives in Europe and Asia this fall. As for its price, that remains unknown. The details that everyone wants to know are still up in the air.
Yet we do know the color options — blue, black, pink, and gold. So there will be some opportunity to get a fitting style.
In a few weeks, the new Galaxy A7 will officially join Samsung’s lineup. The South Korean company has an online-only global launch event scheduled for Thursday, October 11. It’s expected that, in addition to discussing the mid-range device’s features, Samsung will share more on when and for how much you’ll be able to purchase the Galaxy A7.
