Verizon will rebrand the HTC One Mini 2 as the HTC One Remix, a name we’ve been hearing a lot this month. A new image of the handset was posted by Evleaks on Thursday, and it essentially looks as you’d expect, except one obvious and very glaring difference: that gaudy, offensive, awful Verizon logo pasted to the front.
Verizon branding has remained a lurid part of the smartphone world, and it’s as present as it has ever been here. What is otherwise a handsome design is spoiled by a big Verizon logo right below the Remix’s display. It’s like a carrier tramp stamp, overtaking the Remix’s beauty with a corporate agenda. Otherwise, I mean, there’s not much to see here; the top portion of the screen is blurred out, likely hiding pertinent information.
The HTC One Mini 2, despite its awful name, is a pretty solid mid-range device that mostly punches above its weight, though the One (M8) is obviously the better choice. Specs include a 4.5-inch 720p display, 13-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (microSD expandable), NFC and a 2100mAh battery.
It’s unclear when the Remix will be available, but chances are good it’ll hit Verizon soon. Until then, you can check out our review of the AT&T version here.
