freedompop phone

Last month, FreedomPop introduced a free wireless plan, offering 500MB of data, 500 text messages and 200 minutes of calls per month at no charge, or $10.99 per month for unlimited text and calls. The only catch was that you had to pay $99 for an outdated HTC Evo Design 4G to take advantage of the plan, but starting today FreedomPop will offer its service on your old Sprint smartphone free of charge.

According to 9to5Mac, FreedomPop's plan will be available on old Sprint-enabled iPhone's including the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4s. A list of Android-compatible smartphones includes the HTC EVO 4G, the HTC EVO 3D, the Samsung Epic 4G, the Epic 4G Touch, the Galaxy S III 16GB, the Boost Prevail, the Galaxy Nexus, the Nexus S 4G, the LG Optimus S, and the Motorola Photon 4G.

If you have an old Apple or Android handset that's Sprint-enabled and collecting dust, FreedomPop's offer may be worth the extra data each month.
