Google has been offering free VoIP calls to residents of U.S. and Canada through its Gmail service for a couple of years now, and the company confirmed today that it will continue to do so through all of next year. That’s great news for anyone who wants to save a few bucks using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) directly from their computer. The official statement from Google’s team is as follows:

Many of you call phones from Gmail to easily connect with friends and family. If you’re in the US and Canada, you’ll continue to be able to make free domestic calls through 2013. Plus, in most countries, you can still call the rest of the world from Gmail at insanely low rates.
