Foursquare on Tuesday announced a completely revamped experience for Windows Phone 8 users, one that was built in close collaboration with both Microsoft and Nokia. The company said its check-in app has been specially optimized with augmented reality for Nokia's Lumia lineup, which has dominated the WP8 landscape. An updated Windows Phone 7 Foursquare app is coming soon, the company said.

Going even deeper than special integration on Nokia's devices, Foursquare said some Lumia devices will have its app pre-loaded going forward. If you're unfamiliar with the app, you may feel compelled to give it a spin when you pick up a device such as the Lumia 928.

Besides special Lumia treatment, the app itself now allows you to pin people and venues right on your Start Screen, use your voice to search, find and check-in, and also share using NFC. The redesign looks decidedly slick, so if you're an avid Foursquare user, and have Windows Phone 8, you can download version 3.0 now.
