Foursquare, the popular location check-in service, is down at the moment, and no word as of yet when it will be returning.

According to the Foursquare status blog, the service went down at 7:07am EST/12:07pm GMT, and at that time the company stated, "The site is down and we're investigating now. Will update as soon as we have more information. Thanks for your patience!" Another update was posted approximately 90 minutes later, although it appears the company screwed up its time zones by labeling it as 8:35pm EST/1:35pm GMT. The statement at that time was, "We're working to identify the cause of the outage. We'll have another update soon."

There hasn't been much news as of late to just how many people are still using Foursquare, but for those that do, myself included, it has felt like the numbers have been dropping off as it is becoming easier to steal mayorships and get on leader boards. For those that still use it, hand in there, your mayorship of Starbucks will soon return.

Update 1: Foursquare has updated its status blog with a third note. It also corrected the time stamp on the second one to 8:35am. The third note reads:

UPDATE 10:35am EST/3:35pm GMT: We're continuing to work on a fix for the site outage, thanks again for everyone's patience! We'll update with more info as soon as we have it.

Update 2: And every thing is back to normal.

UPDATE 11:45am EDT/4:35pm GMT: Everything is back up. Sorry for any inconvenience.
