Forza Motorsport 5 featured the 2014 Renault Spark SRT_10E racecar as a downloadable vehicle, but Forza 6 looks to shift things into the next gear, including the entire set of cars from the 2014-2015 FIA Formula E season.

Formula 1 is a fairly well known racing league, especially in Europe, but Formula E may not be as familiar.

Formula E is the first fully electric, open wheel racing series, and just started in the last couple years. In the bigger picture, it serves as a way for different auto manufacturers to research and show off their advances in electric performance cars. For gamers, it means a new set of cars and possibly a new way to race. Formula E cars go through their batteries like crazy and there isn’t a practical way to swap batteries yet, so they swap the entire car.

Formula E also features a social element called Fan Boost, which gives drivers an extra horsepower boost if fans vote for them. While Turn 10 hasn’t said that they’re integrating this into Forza Motorsport 6 in any way, the fact that they call it out specifically on the Xbox Wire announcement page suggests that it’s a very real possibility. Elements like this could be good for mixing up the repetition of doing lap races if they’re implemented well.

In addition to the Formula E announcement, the team unveiled another batch of cars that will see release in Forza Motorsport 6:
