Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog not too long ago. Hennig was the Creative Director and Writer of the Uncharted series.
Her departure from the studio was and still remains shrouded in controversy. Some sources suggest it was an amicable departure, while others say Hennig was kicked out in a more negative fashion.
Whatever the case, Hennig has a new gig on another massive franchise. She joins Visceral Games as they work on their own Star Wars title set to be published by EA. She will be the Creative Director.
The news comes from an official blog post written by Steve Papoutsis, VP and General Manager of Visceral. Visceral, of course, is most famous for its work on Dead Space.
Papoutsis suggested lots of excitement for Hennig's arrived, and offered this regarding her role with Visceral.
Over the last few weeks, Amy and I have spent a lot of time talking about what her first project would be. There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity (because let's face it, we weren't the only ones knocking at her door) was Star Wars. Amy's a huge fan. We happen to be making a Star Wars game. Just thinking about the possibilities made both of us even more excited about having her join the team.
Who wouldn't want to take on a Star Wars game?
For me, the best parts of Star Wars have always been the roguish banter between the likes of Han and, well, anyone else. I see a lot of similarities between Han and Nathan Drake's characters, and having Hennig behind the personalities of another chapter in the Star Wars universe sounds fantastic.
We're looking forward to whatever's next, how about you?
