At E3 2015, creative director Jason Vandenberghe unveiled the multiplayer for his sword combat game, For Honor, a game that would pit medieval knights, vikings, and samurai against each other.

This year, Vandenberghe came out to reveal that there’s a bit more to it than a simple mash-up of different historical warriors. Unveiling a fourth faction, the newest trailer reveals that there’s a supernatural element to the game bringing these different warriors together.

We got a peek at the single player from the viking’s perspective. It seems like each faction will have their own campaign, though they didn’t give much information about that in the presentation.

The game itself feels like something like a cross between Ryse: Son of Rome and Dynasty Warriors, with prompt-based mass combat where you’re taking down hordes of enemies and then encountering more powerful individual enemies that you’ll duel with using directional prompts.

It certainly looks interesting – and quite different from Ubisoft’s other offerings, so I’m excited to see where the game goes. We won’t have to wait too long, either – the game releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2017.
