The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is one of those evasive games I really need to play, but better outlets always lurk around the corner. When I bought a PS Vita and targeted its PSP version, a PC version was announced, and I wanted to play it in HD. Waiting for the PC version, handhelds once again became my main method of playing games, and I returned to waiting for a PSN sale.

Now with a little Christmas dough in my pocket and three weeks of winter vacation ahead of me, I was certain that the time had finally come, but no. Developer Nihon Falcom has announced a remixed version of the fan-favorite JRPG.

Will this new one come to the states? Will it be released in English? Who knows? But now I feel an obligation to wait even longer! Is there a point though? This new version features a fully voiced script which I will undoubtedly turn off, camera functions which I won’t use, touch screen controls and menus which I will ignore, and redrawn character art after the original already looked so nice.

It seems the best this game offers is a higher resolution and a fully arranged soundtrack. Both are huge pluses, but I won’t even notice without foreknowledge from the original.

Is it worth waiting for a sliver of a hope that this game is coming, or should I finally buckle down and play the PSP version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky on my PS Vita and PS TV? Everyone I’ve spoken to loves this game no matter the version they pick up, and playing this game has officially become a New Year’s resolution of mine. I’ve put this off for far too long.

I’m doing it… once I beat Suikoden II for the hundredth time.
