Final Fantasy VI Mog

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has finally delivered a substantial progress report after nearly a year of little tidbits. The game has wrapped up all development on the “pre-beta” version, and its team is now in all-advance mode for the final push into a full release.

In his Twitter updates, Tabata claims that the slow release of information came at his request.

Tabata faced a little criticism over how slowly his updates were explaining actual progress of the game, but my guess is now that he has the solid foundation all laid out, we’ll be seeing a lot more over the next year. Take this lovely little tidbit for example! Remember how he polled fans last week, asking if they wanted Moogles in Final Fantasy XV? Well, the man listened!

Fan victory! Final Fantasy XV will star Moogles, as all Final Fantasy games should no matter how serious their setting is. Tabata has claimed that he will think of an interesting new way to use Moogles, rather than as the cute little white creatures that populate the brushes and woods. He added:

“Importantly, at this stage of development I will not be making a trade off with the other work remaining in order to fit them in. So it won’t be a very chatty Moogle, but will be done with a suitably light level of development work as a fun little #FFXV extra.”

I’m cool with that since it’s what I suggested in the first place. Just as long as they are there, I can be happy. Final Fantasy XV will launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016.
