This week is Valentine’s Day and love is in the air. What a better way to celebrate, other than taking that special someone out for dinner, than to relive one of video game’s most popular love stories?
Final Fantasy X might not be the first love story to emerge from the Final Fantasy series, but it is certainly the most comprehensible and possibly tolerable. A cheeky boy and a drop dead serious girl. A free spirit and a being who burdens the world’s problems on her own shoulders. He was a punk, she took ballet. What more can I say?
Seriously though, Final Fantasy X’s love story is top notch storytelling, making it’s ending by far the highlight of the entire series. The ever looming threat of death, lives torn apart by in the flash of an eye. Who could fall in love in a world as cursed as this? I just wish Square Enix would lay off the spoilers in these trailers because some people might be experiencing the game for the first time in the coming months.
Plus, someone give these writers a cookie for making me sympathetic to a guy who dresses like that. Titus is one of Final Fantasy’s best protagonists, and if you need a fresh reminder of why, play the HD remake when it comes out March 18. Toss your preconceived notions aside, because he is not the whiny crybaby that his naysayers remember him to be.
Square Enix has also taken the time to announce the pre-order bonus for the PS Vita copy: three bonus art cards. Not quite the stuff of legend, but a nice nod.
Final Fantasy X | X2 HD Remaster will be released on March 18th for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.
