According to the latest data collected by Box Office Mojo, fans have not tired of the Fast and Furious franchise. In fact, enthusiasm appears to only be growing.

After Fate of the Furious grabbed the record for biggest worldwide launch, the film has already surpassed the $1 billion mark; its current total is about $1.06 billion.

Furious 7, which came out in 2015 and was the last to feature Paul Walker, is still the highest grossing in the franchise, standing at $1.5 billion. But, remember, Fate of the Furious came out at the end of last month, so there’s still plenty of time before the final total comes in.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, the film’s current $1.06 billion total means it’s the 21st highest-grossing movie of all time (unadjusted for inflation), surpassing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

It just goes to show that insane action and an ensemble cast is a major box office draw. What’s interesting is the movie is doing phenomenally well overseas but is trailing behind previous films domestically. At least at the moment, Fate’s domestic numbers are behind the previous three Fast and Furious movies, which may indicate a trend emerging.

The Fate of the Furious’ unstoppable popularity may come to a halt this weekend, however, when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released. That’ll surely put a damper on Fate’s momentum, but all signs point to the eighth film in the franchise being the most popular yet.

There are two more planned movies in the franchise (for a total of ten), and even the possibility of a spin-off. One thing’s for sure: The franchise is just getting started.
