Facebook for Windows Phone large

The official Facebook app for Windows Phone received a much-needed overhaul earlier this year, which introduced a new user interface in addition to improvements to its stability and performance. However, there are several popular features that the app is still missing. Fortunately for Windows Phone users, many of them are coming soon in Facebook's next update.

In a post published earlier today, the company insists it is listening to the feedback it is receiving from Windows Phone users, and it details some of the biggest features you can expect to see in version 2.5 of the Facebook app. One of those includes full threaded messaging, even for group messages, in a "beautiful Metro style design."

Another is the ability to tag your friends and locations in your status updates with the 'with' and 'at' formats. You'll also be able to (finally!) click on links within comments and posts to go directly to their content.

Regret last night's drunken wall posts? With version 2.5, you'll be able to delete comments and posts from your wall simply by tapping and holding on the context menu. And those that you don't regret, you can finally 'like'. (Don't 'like' your own posts, though, that's just a little sad.)

Finally, Facebook details the changes it has made to the photo comments and likes page:

The photo comments and likes page has been updated to match the posts comments and likes page. You can see a hint of the image at the top of the page, pull down and you can see the whole thing.

Facebook says the update is now in its final round of testing and "sign off," then it'll be ready to hit the Windows Phone Marketplace. You can follow the Facebook for Windows Phone page to get the latest updates.

Are you looking forward to Facebook 2.5 for Windows Phone?
