Is nothing sacred? Facebook's desktop and mobile apps are already flooded with ads, and now it looks like unsolicited ads may start showing up in Notifications as well. AllThingsD reports that the first ads were sighted earlier this week, noting that Facebook is still just testing the new type of advertising.

In an official statement, a Facebook representative said the new ads are "part of a small mobile distribution test we're running for game developers," adding that the company is always trying out new ways to promote Facebook-based games.

Digital Trends adds that an initial round of testing for ads in your Notifications took place in July, meaning this could be the beginning of an official rollout, despite what Facebook claims. It seems inevitable that like the rest of the site, Notifications will eventually display promoted ads as well, and like every other change, users will probably complain initially and then move on.
