macbook-pro-2010In what is turning into the worst kept secret in the world, more evidence has popped up that MacBook Pros are being refreshed this week.

According to OS X Daily, Best Buy briefly listed new SKU numbers for MacBook Pros this weekend, but quickly pulled the pages.  For those unfamiliar with the term, SKU numbers are the unique numbers assigned to products by companies to limit confusion in the ordering process.  Considering these were brand new numbers, it adds a lot of credence to the rumors circulating that Apple will be updating the MacBook Pros as early as this Thursday.

As if this rumor didn’t need any more fuel, AppleInsider is reporting that third-party sellers have reported being notified that Apple will be delivering sealed packages to them early this week that are not to be open until told otherwise.  In case you think resellers might peak in the packages, they have reportedly been told that they could have their licenses yanked if they should tamper with them early.  (we’re envisioning Apple S.W.A.T. squads descending on stock rooms the moment the plastic is touched)

Considering that no major update has happened to the popular Apple laptops since last April, the line is definitely due for an update.  There was a minor update last Oct., but not a major enough one to be considered a full update.  In short, if you’re in the market for a new Apple laptop, do not purchase them this week until we hear otherwise.

Stay tuned for continuing coverage this week as the new MacBook Pros (supposedly) roll out.
