Evernote has released an "all new" Android application today that introduces an entirely new look and lots of new features. The 4.0.1 release includes a redesigned home screen, an improved notes list, new action bars, an easy reading mode, and more.

Whether it's a completely makeover or a simple touch-up, every single screen of the app have been redesigned to be easier to use, faster and more intuitive.

The complete list of changes includes:

Completely new look

  • New home screen lets you create and find your notes easily
  • Redesigned note list for easier reading and browsing
  • Updated notebook list unifies user notebooks with shared notebooks
  • New contextual Action Bars for easy access to functionality

Swipeable navigation

  • Swipe right from your note and note list to show the home screen
  • Swipeable navigation to go from Notebook to Tag to Place views
Evernote shows off the app's new look and its new features in the one-minute clip you can see above. I've been playing around with the new app this morning and I think the improvements to its performance are certainly noticeable. The app feels smoother and more fluent, and a lot less… clunky.

As always, Evernote is completely free to download, and free to use. It's compatible with Android 1.6 and above, and you can download it now from Google Play.
