Etrian Odyssey V

Etrian Odyssey V was first announced way back at the end of 2014, but here we are nearly a full year later, and no Etrian Odyssey V. Atlus has spoken out on the progress of the game, and Director Shigeo Komori has confirmed that development is in the final stages. He states that more information will be made available when the weather warms up.

That's the spring, if you need to know.

I'm a huge fan of Atlus' Etrian Odyssey series, but it's been a while since we've had a "new" one, hasn't it? Etrian Odyssey IV was released three long years ago and remains one of the Nintendo 3DS's best games. Since then, we've had plenty of remakes and spin-offs hit the eShop, and while a lot of fun, they each feel like a step back from what Etrian Odyssey IV offered.

Makes sense since they were all based on games that came before it. Where's the evolution of the series going to take it next?

As much as I would love to find out by getting lost into the next proper Etrian Odyssey game, 2016 is already excruciatingly crowded with JRPGs on the Nintendo 3DS. If it is released this year, Etrian Odyssey V would have to compete with Dragon Quest VII, Dragon Quest VIII, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final, Fire Emblem Fates, and Bravely Second

So Atlus, please. Have mercy on us. Why not do us all a favor and let this one slip into 2017? I won't mind one bit, and I want to be able to dedicate everything I can to it.
