Eternal Darkness

Independent Canadian developer Silicon Knights might be on the verge of going the way of the dodo bird, but that isn't stopping the team from moving on with their most anticipated title, a follow-up to the 2002 GameCube hit Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Under the moniker of Precursor Games, deranged Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack and friends have leaked information and a teaser trailer to IGN about a possible spiritual successor called Shadow of the Eternals. An official reveal and Kickstarter campaign will both be made public this Monday on May 6th.

We are all for a successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, but I am wondering if crowd-funding is the best way for Precursor Games to go.

Silicon Knights has not enjoyed a good reputation on the development front of video games. Their infamous bomb Too Human spent over a decade in development, and the team is just wrapping up a long legal battle with Epic Games over the misuse of the Unreal Engine. The company was forced to destroy all remaining copies of Too Human and X-Men Destiny, and they lost a lot of money in the process.

Do you trust these guys enough with a pledge to get the game finished? We all want to see more Eternal Darkness, but this is one high profile Kickstarter project which might set off a few alarms.
