Pricing remains a mystery, but if you want to use the handset with a different carrier in the region, you can currently pre-order an unlocked variant from Essential’s website for $699.

This news comes shortly after Sprint revealed that it would hold on-contract exclusivity over the Essential Phone in the United States, where it’s “expected” to start shipping within the next 30 days.

The Essential Phone was designed by the co-creator of Android

For those who missed its announcement, the Essential Phone is the first device designed and manufactured by Android co-creator Android Rubin’s smartphone startup, Essential.

Under the hood, it sports a 5.7-inch display, a Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 13MP dual-pixel rear-facing camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter and a 3,040mAh battery.
