While a good chunk of Europe and the world may have been tuned in to see the Champions League Finals, Microsoft and Epic Games utilized the event's massive following to release a new trailer for the Gears of War 3 campaign. Though the game is already highly-anticipated, it probably doesn't hurt to give the title some breathing room with the onslaught of information that will at E3, which only a week and a half away.

For months, Epic has promised that Gears 3 would be the most polished and balanced installment in the studio. After an extremely successful beta earlier this month, it appears as if the multiplayer will steal hours from gamers. The newest trailer, though short in length, demonstrates the level of polish the studio is putting into the third entry in the franchise.

Gears of War 3 betaGears of War 3 is the final entry in the critically-acclaimed trilogy, and while there may be more games in the future of the franchise, this outing will likely answer the majority of questions about the current story arc, including the origins of the Locust and the rising threat, the Lambent.

As the trailer above shows, Marcus Fenix receives a message from his father, which spurs him to go hunting for his long-lost parent, who holds the key to the future. It also displays the game's gigantic scale, with mammoth-sized boss battles as far as the eye can see. If nothing else, watch the trailer to enjoy the riffs of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" complementing the merciless curb-stomping of Locust scum.

Slated for a September 20th release, Gears of War 3 will launch exclusively on the Xbox 360. More information about the title will be revealed during Microsoft's press conference at E3 on June 6th.
