Rare’s Sea of Thieves dropped this spring with some gorgeous art and a big round of criticism – this game doesn’t have enough content. This summer, Rare plans to fix that. Two big expansions were announced at E3 2018 that should give would-be pirates plenty to do.

The first, set for July, is titled Cursed Sails. We’ll see skeleton ships introduced to the game, bringing some much-needed player-vs-enemy play to the open seas. Coming in September is Forbidden Shores, which adds new areas to the game for players to explore.

Both of these are exactly what players have been asking for. New stuff to do and new places to do it.

While I was pretty lukewarm on Sea of Thieves to begin with, I’ve enjoyed the game since and I’m looking forward to seeing what these packages add to the game. It’s going to be a long wait. Rare isn’t offering up specific dates for these packs, but this summer is going to be big for Sea of Thieves.
