Prepare your childhood sensors, friends of all things tech, gaming and geek! Disney XD has ordered the revival of one of the greatest cartoons of the 80s and 90s. DuckTales is coming back.

The revival is slated for a 2017 launch, and it will be broadcast on Disney XD channels around the world. That's good news for my family, because it puts my son at the exact same age I was when I first watched DuckTales. How weird is that?

The new DuckTales will carry the character roster you know and love, like Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louie. There's no word yet on whether or not we'll hear the voices of the original characters, though.

It turns out Disney totally recognizes the history and love fans have for this series. Here's Disney XD Senior Vice President and GM Marc Buhaj with The Hollywood Reporter.

"DuckTales has a special place in Disney's TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults…

…Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."

I just hope they stick with hand drawn animation and don't shift over to the cheaper computer-based stuff. We'll see.
