Dreadnought is the next game from Yager Development, the studio behind Spec Ops: The Line. With a planned release later this year for the PC and PlayStation 4, you can expect the hype and excitement to start buildings later this month when E3 2017 rolls around.

PlayStation Underground is already on the case with the first 19-minutes of footage we've seen in quite a while. Yager pitches the game as a thinking man's shooter, meaning you'll have to learn the ins and outs of each ship, your opponents ship, the speed of projectiles, the armor capabilities of opposing forces, and actual tactics if you want to survive your fights.

Your brain is mightier than your trigger finger

Blasting your way through enemy lines will get you nowhere in this game. Battles are slow, ships are cumbersome, but that's sort of the point as you can see in the footage above.

Dreadnought puts you in command of massive capital ships for tactical, team-based warfare in space and across the skies of different planets. As a mercenary captain, your motivations are simple: to reap the rewards of battle and build your reputation—and to be fearless doing it.

Armed with earth-shaking weapons and the support of your teammates, you must claim victory by outmaneuvering, outshooting and outclassing the opposing team. Prepare yourself. It's time to take the helm.

Yager points towards the class system in Team Fortress 2 as the primary inspiration for how to win in the game. A balanced team that works together will find easier victory than an unbalanced one with no coordination.

Dreadnought will launch for the PlayStation 4 and PC later this year.
