And you thought Square Enix had lost their marbles when naming the Final Fantasy XIII insipid cast of rejects. Snow, Hope and Lightning might all be ridiculous names, but at least they put more effort into it than simply counting to ten in their heads.
Most of the characters in Drakengard 3 are named after a number. The main protagonist is named Zero, her younger sister is named One. Characters Five, Octa, Decad, and Cent all appear in the known credits now.
Here we have the illustrious Four, making her character art debut in a brand new gallery released by Square Enix. Two and Three have yet to be revealed, but maybe she is related to Five. I’m also certain she doesn’t talk to her old friend Seven anymore because, you know, Seven ate Nine. (Editor’s note: I audibly groaned here. – Joey)
On a more serious note, the screenshots continue to confirm director’s Yoko Taro statements, claiming that this game will not follow in the footsteps of the massive battlefield Dynasty Warriors inspired gameplay but rather more of a straight up hack ‘n slash.
No confirmation has been given on an American release date, but in the event that it fails to materialize, then I will be sure to let you know what I think from out here. Drakengard 3, or Drag-On Dragoon 3 in its homeland, will be released in Japan for the PlayStation 3 on October 31st.
