It’s never fun having to wait for something you’re anticipating to release in your region when it’s already out elsewhere (Just ask our Japan-based editor, Ron Duwell). But sometimes there are advantages, especially with things like video games.

When Dragon Quest Heroes releases here next month, there’s going to be a lot more stuff on the disc than Japanese players had access to.

All the DLC episodes that followed the game’s Japanese release will be included on-disc for free in the U.S. and European releases of the game. The episodes are unlocked by play, not by purchase or time. Most of the episodes, Square Enix says, are unlocked after defeating the king hydra. In an age where it feels like game companies are constantly trying to nickel and dime us to death, it’s nice to see a company giving us what would essentially be the Game of the Year edition for any other game.

Dragon Quest Heroes hits PlayStation 4 October 13 in the U.S. and October 16 in Europe.
