Yet another huge delay from EA?! Wasn’t pushing back Battlefield Hardline enough? What’s the deal?
Relax, Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s delay only pushes it back one month to Nov. 18, not deep into 2015. BioWare Executive Producer Mark Darrah says the game just needs a little extra fine tuning and polish. “While this extra few weeks may not seem like a lot, I know the game you’ll play will be all the better for it.”
“This last bit of time is about polishing the experience we want you to see. Ensuring that our open spaces are as engaging as possible. Strengthening the emotional impact of the Hero’s choices. And ensuring the experience you get is the best it can be in the platform you choose to play on.”
As if Dragon Age fans need a reminder on what happens when BioWare pushes out a game before it is truly ready. I sincerely doubt that Dragon Age: Inquisition suffers from the same problems that plagued Dragon Age II, but every little bit of time helps, I suppose.
More so than polish, Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s original Oct. 7 release put it in direct competition with several of the year’s other biggest games, or what’s left of them at least. On its release date alone, it would have to compete with Alien: Isolation, Driveclub, Project Spark, and Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor, and with Evolve, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Sunset Overdrive all on the horizon, who has time in busy October to play a massive BioWare RPG?
Its new November release date does pit it against Far Cry 4 though, and it’s a tough guess as to which will come out on top of that matchup. No doubt, EA likes its chances, and wants to stick it to one of Ubisoft’s biggest releases of the year.
Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 18.
