The first trailer for Doctor Sleep has been released, and it's a creepy look at what's in store for the sequel to The Shining.
The upcoming film picks up 40 years after Danny Torrance was nearly murdered at the Overlook Hotel. Now in the throes of alcoholism and at his lowest point, Danny starts to descend into hiw own madness.
The film will see if Danny is doomed to repeat his father's mistakes or if he can redeem himself and beat addiction.
When Danny meets a teenage girl named Abra (Kyliegh Curran) who also possesses "the shining," a series of horrifying events unfold.

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the "shine." Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra's innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.
Doctor Sleep is being directed by Mike Flanagan, who is responsible for some of the best horror stories over the past few years, including Oujia: Origin of Evil, Gerald's Game, and The Haunting of Hill House. Following Doctor Sleep, Flanagan will helm The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Doctor Sleep is set to hit theaters on November 8, 2019.
