Devil’s Third has been in limbo for a while. Nintendo announced Japanese and European release dates for the game, but didn’t have one for the western hemisphere, leading many to speculate that it wouldn’t be released here due to quality concerns.
Nintendo announced yesterday, though, that the game will indeed see a retail release on Wii U in the Americas during the fourth quarter of 2015, and it will hit the Nintendo eShop at the same time.
Devil’s Third, developed by Tomonobu Itagaki’s Valhalla Game Studios, is a sword-and-gun action game with over the top characters, violence, and dialogue. Despite the quality concerns, it absolutely does have all the hallmarks of Itagaki’s previous games – Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden – and should appeal to fans of those. In addition to the single player experience, it sports an online multiplayer component.
Nintendo will publish the game in the U.S. as they are in other territories for the Wii U, while a “free to start” PC version is planned that will be self-published by Valhalla Game Studios – each will have their own platform-specific multiplayer components, according to the press release.
Devil’s Third is set to release on Wii U and PC in Q4 of 2015.
