I didn’t get a chance to see Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at E3 this year. I was busy with an EA appointment while our own Eric Frederiksen checked out the game. He said it was pretty awesome, though that meant I was left to take his word for it and move on.

Well, that’s the case no longer. Eidos Montreal and Square Enix have put the gameplay demo up for our consumption. I vastly prefer these to the sizzle reels or small highlights that we’ve been getting during press conferences. This is genuine, in-game stuff.

This is an alpha build of the game, as the bottom right corner indicates. The devs also turned on full health and full ammo to remove any potential hitches. Devs die too, folks. I watched the Dark Souls III driver die four times during that demo.

I dug Deus Ex: Human Revolution when it launched a few years back. It needed better boss conflicts, and it looks like Eidos Montreal might have that covered.

If the studio manages to fix the boss encounters while producing a world just as believable as Human Revolution in Mankind Divided, it could be a crazy good game. We’ll know when it launches for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016.
