Destiny 2 is the real deal, and Bungie’s latest seems like it will bring the popular development studio back into the limelight at just the right moment. The reveal this past weekend went about as smooth as a blockbuster reveal could go, and if there was any blemish, I would point to Activision Blizzards’s wishy-washiness on the PC release date.

Officially, the story reads like this:

In September, Destiny 2 will be available on PlayStation 4 systems with additional, timed exclusive content, and Xbox One (PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription, respectively, required for significant features). Additionally, Destiny 2 will be available on PC at retail and as the first third-party game to be offered digitally via, Blizzard Entertainment’s online gaming service.

Notice no mention of a PC release date? Well, an FAQ on Blizzard’s official website doesn’t provide a definite answer either.

Where and when will Destiny 2 on PC be available?

We’re excited to work with Bungie to bring the PC version of Destiny 2 to every region Blizzard currently operates in. Bungie is actively working through the global details. We look forward to sharing additional information later this year.

Polygon also reached out to Activision Blizzard on the date, and it got this in reply.

Destiny 2 is shipping on September 8th, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. We will have details later about the PC ship date on Blizzard Entertainment’s

Yeah, it’s not coming out alongside the console version

The PC version will inevitably be more lauded than the console versions, and considering that Bungie has lifted the cap on framerates, even for 4K screen resolution, it’s going to take a bit longer to cook.

It’s only a timing question, really. Will it come out a few weeks later, still in the holiday season, or will it pull a Grand Theft Auto V and come out the following year once its console builds have left the headlines? That would be perfect timing to give it second life and launch an expansion!

Either way, expect a delay. Destiny 2 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 8. The PC version’s release date is still unknown.
