You built a time machine… out of a DeLorean. OK, maybe you didn’t, but you’ll soon be able to get your hands on a brand new DeLorean. The company just announced that it’s going to put the car back into production. Yes, you read that correctly. The DeLorean is going back into production.

“It’s fantastic. It’s a game-change for us. We’ve been wanting this to happen,” DeLorean CEO Stephen Wynn told Click2Houston, noting that it was previously “against the law” for the company to rebuild the car. “There’s no reason to change the appearance of the car,” Wynn said of the iconic design, featured in the Back to the Future movies. “As we go into the program, we’ll decide what areas need to be freshened up.”

Android Auto? CarPlay? Flux capacitors?

There won’t be a ton of brand new DeLoreans built, however, with just about 300 new “replicas” of the original 1987 model planned. The good news? You might not need to be a millionaire just to own a shiny new one. Wynn hopes to sell them for under $100,000. That’s still about twice as much as used ones retail for.
