It can flip, it can stand up, and it can delight your eyeballs with 4K goodness. Dell’s new XPS 15 2-in-1, one of the company’s more exciting and popular Windows 10 laptops, is getting a welcome upgrade at CES, with better graphics, better internals, and some seriously impressive battery stats.
But first thing’s first: When the XPS 15 2-in-1 releases this spring, it’ll be available for $1,299. The base model will include an i5 8th Gen Intel processor, 8GB of RAM, a 15-inch 1080p display, and 128GB of internal storage. This thing will also feature Radeon RX Vega M graphics and 4GB of dedicated High Bandwidth Memory for graphics, making it decently suited for gaming and content creation.
The real draw of Dell’s 2-in-1 is its ability to swivel, allowing users to utilize the laptop’s touchscreen display for things like graphic design. Did I mention the XPS 15 will support the Dell Premium Active Pen, which features 4096 pressure sensitivity and tilt functionality for the most life-like writing experience? Conveniently, it features a magnet that will allow users to attach it directly to the XPS 15.
Like the recently announced XPS 13 revamp, the XPS 15 2-in-1 features GORE Thermal Insulation, which Dell claims will lower the laptop’s temperature while enabling greater performance. And the battery should last an impressive 15 hours. We can’t verify Dell’s claims, but we’ll report back if we find anything different.
Outfitting the device’s CNC machined aluminum build is two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB-C ports, and a microSD card reader, meaning content creators may not have to deal with as many dongles. Dell says there’s also a Windows Hello compliant fingerprint sensor embedded into the XPS 15’s power button.
The specced out version will include a 15-inch 4K display, 1TB of storage, and 16GB of RAM. Which, combined with pen support and the device’s convertible functionality, makes it one of the more enticing laptops to kick off the year. Like its smaller 13-inch XPS brother, the new 15-inch model supports Dell’s new Cinema suite technology, which the company claims will provide viewers with a more vivid Netflix viewing experience.
Look for the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 to launch this Spring.
