The day THQ closed down was a sad one. The company had been the source of a variety of fan favorites in the years preceding the shut down. Many of those games were snapped up immediately and have seen release since the publisher shut down in January 2013, with South Park: The Stick of Truth being particularly notable. We had to wait a bit longer, but games like Red Faction and Darksiders were picked up by Nordic Games in April 2013.
After a solid year of silence on the matter, Darksiders Creative Director Joe Madureira recently slipped a note about the franchise between quick updates about comics and conventions.
Darksiders– DS is not dead!!! The new owner, Nordic seems very committed to continuing the series. As far as my involvement, I can't say at this point. Hopefully we will all have exciting news about the franchise soon!!!!!!
Darksiders has been a well-loved franchise since its initial release in 2010. Fans were surprised to see it languish when THQ went under, and hints like this are sure to get people excited. It's very tentative though, and it's hard to say what we can take from it at this point. It might be another proper Darksiders sequel, or it could be something related to the property but more 'mobile' fare.
It's unlikely we'll see a trailer or anything solid at E3, but it's great to see one of the big new properties of the last generation is still alive and kicking.
We hope Nordic and Joe Madureira don't make us wait too long before they give us something real to chew on.
