Most Dark Souls fans are probably on the edge of their seats waiting for the release of Bloodborne next week, but let’s not forget that Dark Souls II will be getting a much needed definitive version on consoles the following week on April 2.

Which one will you be diving into first?

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will be the highest quality release of the game on consoles to-date with head-to-head graphics pointing out that the PlayStation 4 build is the absolute best. Bandai Namco has a new batch of screenshots showing off the new version’s graphical fidelity as well as a new character, the Forlorn Invader.

I’m still not certain where I stand with this game. With the 60fps and boosted resolution, Dark Souls II casts aside all of the technical problems that I felt plagued the previous generation release. At the same time, the technical improvements can’t shake my feeling that the game’s atmosphere and artistic choices keep it a far cry from its predecessors, Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. Those who already own the game will get a free update that grants access to the new content.
