Google's Android One initiative was created in an effort to bring millions – even billions – of new folks into Google's Android operating system. It's targeted at emerging smartphone markets where phones can be sold at budget entry-level prices, and that strategy has caught the eye of Cyanogen. The company announced recently that it's rolling out CyanogenMod 11 KitKat builds for Android One devices.

Cyanogen said it will launch new builds once a week on Sundays and that this move is the first time a CyanogenMod build has been released for devices running on the low cost MediaTek processors. "MediaTek devices have been notoriously difficult for the developer community to complete fully functional bring-ups, and this marks a milestone in that effort," the CyanogenMod team said recently, giving credit to a contributor Varun Chitre who helped build the software.

Cyanogen said the builds will be available for all three Android One devices, so that should include the Karbonn Sparkle V, the Micromax Canvas A1 and the Spice Dream UNO.
