The premier trailer for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has officially dropped. The first 20 seconds of the clip above details where the Counter-Strike franchise has been since its initial PC release starting in the year 2000 (In the year 2000!).

Then fans get a glimpse of some of their favorite maps in action with the updated engine featured in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Some of us, like myself, saw de_dust and nearly passed out. 15-year-old me would cry if he saw how the map has been remembered.

Furthermore, it looks like the series will be updated with more weapons, cross-platform play and ranked matchmaking. Let's hope gamers will be able to hop into dedicated servers from the PlayStation 3 as well, because some of us like playing cs_office for seven weeks straight.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac (both via Steam) early next year. It will be a downloadable title for both home consoles and, as such, will release over the XBLA and PlayStation Store. Pricing has not been discussed yet.
