Google on Motorola SignNine long months after the purchase was announced, Google's acquisition of Motorola has finally been approved by regulators in China, who reportedly gave the OK on Saturday. Both the U.S. and European Union cleared the deal, which cost Google $12.5 billion, all the way back in February; everything is apparently looking set to close next week, the Associated Press said. The timing seems significant seeing as Google is rumored to be preparing multiple flagship Nexus devices for later this year. Aside from the 17,000 patents Google will receive in the purchase of Motorola, the search giant will surely want to find even more ways to compete against Apple, which reportedly has its next iPhone set for a Fall release.
