Cyberpunk 2077 was announced with a trailer, a press release and a little talk from developer CD Projekt RED back in January of 2013… and that was really it.

CD Projekt RED Co-Founder and Joint CEO Marcin Iwinski caught up with IGN about the decision to announce the game so early and where it is now.

“We released the Cyberpunk teaser trailer because we wanted to see how gamers felt about it…”

We loved it, guys.

“We were super excited about the project internally, but what if it wasn’t the right thing [for us]? But the response has been incredible. Now it’s just up to us to deliver. We’re hard at work on it.”

CD Projekt RED has already said that 2015 and 2016 will be for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so don’t expect anything for Cyberpunk 2077 until  2017. Once they’re talking about it, though, expect things to move quickly.

“We’re impressed with Fallout 4’s rollout. They came on stage and said ‘It’s here, it’s real, and it’s coming out on this date.’ We’re going to do something similar. We’re going to wait [to reveal the game] until we can show off a very meaningful piece of it.”

Here’s the game. You’ll play it in like 5 months. Get ready.

That’s what I want to see, too.
