The Hulu streaming service has done a great job of bringing together the current shows of ABC, NBC and Fox, but everyone has been itching for CBS to join the club, but it just didn’t seem to be happening.  he rumors were that it had to do with the money involved with the advertising revenue model, but whatever the case was, it just wasn’t happening.

It seems when you start charging a subscription rate, you get the attention of hold outs.

The Big Bang TheoryAccording to Reuters, CBS Chief Executive Les Moonves said in an interview on Monday said, “Are we having discussions with the Hulu subscription service? Yes we are.”  He went on to say, “Our goal is to get paid for our content in as many different ways as we can without hurting the mother ship. The key here is flexibility.”

While Hulu has had search functions for CBS shows for some time, the links took you to the network site to watch the episodes.  Hulu has been successful, and no one is quite sure how well the subscription version is working so far, the addition of the number one television network in the United States is sure to help.

Of course this rumor has been circulating for over a month, but this is the first official statement to come from any official source.  While this statement is nice, you have to wonder if this might also mean a return of other Viacom properties, the parent company of CBS.  A few months ago they removed clips of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report from Hulu, which did hurt the site as they were the most popular clips.  If CBS and Hulu can reach an agreement, could Viacom follow suit at some point?  Only time will tell.

What say you?  Are you excited that CBS may join Hulu Plus?
