Cartoon Network is going to go the way of its corporate big brother, HBO, and offer a streaming application on multiple platforms.

Time Warner is on a mission to make its television properties available anywhere viewers are, and along those lines it has announced that it will be launching an iOS app and Web stream for Cartoon Network along the same lines as HBO GO. As with the HBO app, authentication from your cable or satellite provider will be required to watch the stream.

The unfortunate issue in this particular case is that it is a method by which the company plans to expand its advertising coverage. Just because you’re watching on another platform doesn’t mean you’ll be able to escape the onslaught of toy advertising.  This isn’t too surprising, however, as the network has become the number one destination for boys aged 6 to 11.  As they become more tech savvy, the last thing the network wants to do is lose them to playing Angry Birds.

No word as of yet when we should expect to see the stream launch.

Network to Expand TV Everywhere Strategy

Cartoon Network, television’s #1 network with boys 6-11, announced today that it will soon begin streaming its on-air content live across multiple platforms, including online at and for mobile viewers on the iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.
