More than two years after Brie Larson was announced to play Captain Marvel, we have our first look at her in action. You can watch Larson as the powerful superhero in the trailer above, which give audiences a tantalizing look at what her character—in great ‘90s attire—is capable of when the movie hits theaters early next year.
We’ve shared a primer on who Captain Marvel is, but in case you missed it, Larson is playing the Carol Danvers version of the character, an ace Airforce pilot who gains incredible abilities.
According to Marvel, Captain Marvel won’t be an origin story. Instead, we’ll meet the character when she’s already a member of an elite alien military team called Starforce. Soon, however, she’ll find herself back on Earth where she’ll find herself confronting her identity and battling another alien race known as Skrull.
Captain Marvel features a who’s who of notable talent, including Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, and a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson, who is reprising his role as Nick Fury (with two good eyes).
We’ll have a more in-depth breakdown of the Captain Marvel trailer soon. For now, feast your eyes on the next big movie coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
