Call of Duty Account Link

With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Activision dropped Wii U support. Both Ghosts and Black Ops 2 sold for Nintendo’s platform, but the latest entry in the series moved on based on, we presume, the small install base for the system.

Now? It looks like Black Ops 3 might mark the return of Wii U support. offers account links for players over each platform. You can link your, say, PSN account to the site and track stats for games. With the drop of Wii U support in Advanced Warfare, stopped allowing Nintendo users to link their Nintendo Network IDs.

That feature has returned. allows users to link their NNIDs to their games once more.

The pessimistic view of this feature inclusion is that Activision aims to support the current Black Ops 2 and Ghosts communities on the Wii U. The optimistic version of this link option is that Activision and Treyarch are working on a Wii U version of the freshly announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

I’m going with the latter given the timing of this addition. With the slightly improved sales of the Wii U and the larger installation base, Activision might think there’s a reason to release on Nintendo’s console. There are people who own it with intention to pick up the next Call of Duty, and the Wii U is currently devoid of massive triple A shooters.

What do you think? Does this move signal the return of Call of Duty to the Wii U?
