What you need to know

  • You can now buy a Stadia Controller on its own.
  • It's available through the Google Store for $69.
  • The controller is available in Clearly White, Just Black, and Wasabi.

If you plan on checking out Google Stadia later this year, you'll want a controller to go with it. Luckily, you have a few choices: buy the Stadia Founder's Edition or check out the Google Stadia Controller, the latter of which is now available on Google's store.

The search giant on Monday made the Google Stadia Controller available to purchase on its own, rather than in a bundle.

The controller, which retails for $69 and ships in November, is offered in Clearly White, Just Black, and Wasabi. There's also a Night Blue, but that's exclusive to the Stadia Founder's Edition.

If you do pickup a Stadia Controller on its own, Google has a word of caution: you can only access Stadia through the Founder's Edition or if you have access to the Buddy Pass. Google says on its website:

You won't be able to play Stadia right away just by purchasing the Stadia Controller. Only purchase the Stadia Controller on its own if you already have access to Stadia through Founder's Edition and are looking for a second controller, or if you have access through a Buddy Pass and want to use the Stadia Controller.

The Google Stadia Controller features Google Assistant integration, a capture button, and a USB-C port for charging. It ships for free this November.
