For my first big event—a week in Sin City—this year's CES was more or less what I expected: one big Best Buy circus/theme park nightmare. The usual suspects showed off some attention-grabbing products, sure, but most of the stuff I laid my eyes on I'll never obtain—nor will 99 percent of consumers. For the most part, though, not many things stood out—head and shoulders above the mediocrity of ho-hum cases and boring tablets—except for a select few. Looking back, the products below are the kind of ideas that we'll still be talking about as the year trudges on, as we look toward what's next. They're why we care about CES in the first place.
