Nintendo's Wii… was decent, and certainly had many highlights. But up to a certain point, Nintendo finally seemed to concede that yes, graphics do matter in a console war. One of the Wii's biggest criticisms was its lack of HD support, always making it look inferior compared to the competition. Nintendo was able to squeeze some graphics magic out of titles like Super Mario Galaxy, but by and large it fell well short of even the most bland Xbox 360 and PS3 titles.

So the Wii U is in town to change that. And in typical Nintendo fashion, the company wasn't content to just introduce something that merely came with more power. How about a GamePad, complete with touchscreen, accelerometer, gyroscope, camera, NFC and built-in microphone? Sure, that sounds like a Nintendo thing to do.

The console seems to be a pretty hot item at the moment, and now that it's finally upon us, well, it'll be interesting to see if Nintendo's next big thing is a success. It's Nintendo, so of course it'll sell well. But how will it fare against the next Xbox and PlayStation in the coming years? A big task indeed. Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on the Wii U. We'll have plenty of Wii U coverage in the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned.

Did anyone here pick one up? How is it so far? I'm particularly interested in ZombiU, but I've heard mixed reports about it.
