Revolution Software's Kickstarter campaign for Broken Sword – the Serpent's Curse came to a close with $771,561 pledged, with over $800,000 unofficially through PayPal. These promises would allow Revolution Software to add an additional two exotic locations for the game and allow the developers to "realize their wildest ambitions" with the project.

While doubling its intended goals is no small feat, the campaign sadly came up shy of its final $1 million home stretch goal, which would have given a greenlight to Beneath a Steel Sky 2, Revolution's other classic point and click adventure. While on pace to topple to mark early on in the campaign, donations slowed down once the initial goal was reached. Hopefully, Revolution will be returning to the idea once Broken Sword – the Serpent's Curse becomes a hit.

Broken Sword – the Serpent's Curse is the fifth game in the popular point-and-click adventure series from Revolution Software and creator Charles Cecil. The game is a return to form with gorgeous 2D visuals and excellent voice acting. Fans have a lot to look forward to with Revolution taking total creative freedom with their series for the first time.

UPDATE: Revolution Studios is so kind. Despite not making their requested $1 million, they've gone ahead and confirmed Beneath a Steel Sky 2 anyway for the PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux through Develop.

"We're delighted by the recent level of interest in a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky, and are currently discussing design ideas for this project which we plan to go into development following the release of Broken Sword – The Serpent's Curse. We're deeply touched that our Steel Sky fans are as enthusiastic today as they were when the original game released in 1994."

Top of the line loyalty to fans right there. Thanks a lot you guys.
