I'd like to complain a little bit about Square Enix taking its time to localize Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for American shores, but at least they are doing it in the first place. I can't think of a single game in its line-up which has me more excited, even its big blockbusters Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XV.

The idea of an original Japanese RPG series from Square Enix dates back to almost the PlayStation days when it seemed the two companies, back when they were separate entities, had no shortage of new and exciting franchises. Parasite Eve, Ogre Battle, Brave Fencer Musashi, Vagrant Story. The list goes on and on.

Only in brief instances, like with The World Ends With You and Kingdom Hearts, have we seen the creative juices flow since those happy times.

We will be getting a version called Bravely Default: For The Sequel in Japan. It is not a true sequel to the first game, but rather an updated version fixing all the problems with the Japanese release, primed and ready for the international scene. No doubt the team wants to make another game and soon.

Square Enix confirmed that it would be released in Europe before the end of this year, and it will hit American shores next year. Keep an eye out for it on the Nintendo 3DS.
